“Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created.” Esther 4:14
That moment when your heart nearly burst with purpose, peace, and joy that can only come from knowing fully you are in the right place at the right time… Knowing that you were put here’s by a perfect triune heavenly Father who has created you for a purpose with a specific set of gifts developed through good and bad experiences.
Surrender always leads to new revelations. Eyes and heart open… I walk into a new season of deeply rooted purpose.
“You should be one of my volunteers.” Andrea smiles at me as she places her treats on the counter. Her time spent working as a Child Advocacy Manager led to many impactful conversations at the shop, but that day in particular…. her words struck my heart cords in a way I couldn’t have imagined. “I’ll look into this!” I told her, promisingly.
Not only did I look into it, but every step of the process was clear and concise. The application, interview, online training, classroom training. Resources were abundant, and one of the resources Andrea recommended most was this book.
Some things you just can’t turn away from and Ashley Rhodes-Courter’s story was one of those things for me. My heart aches with the desire to share her story and the stories of children in our very own communities who experience neglect, abuse, or abandonment.
Her book stirred up deep emotions and a desire to help make a change. As I read the pages through fat rolling tears, God lit my butt on fire and fueled me like I’ve never experienced before.
So, I smile confidently ahead. Surrounded by a sweet community of those who have walked this road long before I have. The mission…. to befriend, protect, and advocate for a special young person who needs stability, to know they are loved, cherished, and worthy… and to feel safe.
I’m convinced that sometimes God calls people who have come from the messy or complicated… and gives PURPOSE in what they have walked through or experienced… Jesus turns the dark, twisted, sad, or confusing into light, redemption, and joy. I don’t understand it all, but I just know He will use us and change us in the process if we let Him.
